Paul Delaney was born in New York City and began painting at the age of 4. Delaney gained an early appreciation of art primarily through his grandmother, a traditional figurative artist. In his youth, he spent summers vacationing with his relatives in France, and it was there, inspired by the subtle beauty of the French countryside and the rugged Mediterranean cliffs of Corsica that he began landscape painting.
Paul first visited California some 20 years ago and was struck by the awesome beauty of the Californian landscape and has since relocated from NYC to Laguna Beach.
His plein aire and studio paintings reflect a strong sense of light, shadow and mood. Delaney is prolific in his work and paints quickly, working from dark to light and brings his paintings to life.
"There is not a single day that goes by, that I am not moved by the splendor of California and through every painting I want the viewer to share that feeling with me".
Paul is a member of the Laguna Plein Aire Painters Association and a former member of the Pastel Society of America in NYC. He studied at the Art Students League in New York. Paul’s painting hang in numerous private and corporate collections in the US and abroad.
